Friday 25th September 2015

I was lucky enough to have won a trip to Cannes, we had arranged to stay from Friday 25th September 2015 through to Monday 28th September 2015.

John Weaving was a lovely host, after I barraged him with all my questions re the trip (and there were plenty of questions).

He very kindly arranged to collect us from the airport, took12052658_999783003420606_3894165950643678405_o (1) us to the apartment, showed us supermarket etc, then off to the fabulous Marche Forville, which sold every kind of fresh fruit and
vegetables that you could possible imagine, along with meats, cheeses and flowers of all colours, would most definitely do my shopping there if I was in Cannes for a longer stay or if I lived there.

Then it was lunch, a excellent little Corsican restaurant, La Maison Corse, John clearly was a regular here as he was so warmly greeted by the owner, who turn out used to play for a football team in Glasgow, but he chose not to stay in Glasgow, too cold for him..!! How true.

Lunch was a delight along with fine wine and locals drinks and is definitely somewhere you may never have found had you IMG_3305not been with something who knows the area so well, would thoroughly recommend that you found this great little place along with the fact that it had a quaint little shop that you could purchase some of the local produce.. Yummy Yum..!

Then it was off for a walk to admire the simple most stunning views across Cannes, simply beautiful.

John then bid us farewell back at our apartment to let us do our own thing.

Saturday 26th September 2015

After a lazy relaxing start to the day, it was off to The Carlton Hotel for breakfast, where the rich and very famous stay when in town, sadly there was no sight of any famous on this day, but breakfast and coffee where lovely and well worth the visit, next a stroll along the beach, viewed some of the finest boats that where out sailing for the Regatta weekend, took a walk to where the film festival takes place. It would be amazing to be there when everyone is in town!

Several hours later, we stopped for lunch and fine wine at a lovely little restaurant on the beach, called L’alba, Rue Jean Hilbert 06400 Cannes, food was lovely, wine was fab and the staff all very helpful and polite, this is where we remained for some time, enjoying the sunshine, watching the boats and just generally having a lovely time relaxing with good company and fine wine.IMG_3306

Later in the evening we had been invited to the Art Exhibition, with viewings of some wonderful paintings, there after it was dinner at Le Comptoir Des Vins, which John again very kindly took us to, had a drink with us before leaving us to enjoy our dinner, food was really delicious and beautifully presented, most definitely worth finding for the dining.

Sunday 27th September 2015

Had to be a day at the beach, lovely loungers right on the beach next to the sea, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday again with all the boats out sailing for the near final of the Regatta, after relaxing for a good few hours, it was time to eat again, had a beautiful lunch, never ever seen a burger presented like this before, was delicious as was my friends lunch, lovely wine and just time to relax and enjoy the views.

Thereafter it was back to the loungers, where it then went wrong as the waitress came over and said there was an error with the bill, my friend went to sort this out and basically we were being accused of trying to do them out of money after somewhat of a confrontation, it was agreed that we went half way on splitting the costs of the missing money, this most definitely put a dampener on the day as we were made to feel as though we were trying to steal from them, for this reason I would not go back here to the restaurant of LA Plage, Gray D’albion Barriere and would advise everyone to make sure if paying by cash that they paid for it direct at the till and not leave the monies unattended at any point and has been receipted!!

20150927_104632 (1)Cannes is very quiet on a Sunday and not many places are open, or indeed close by midday, something to keep in mind!

A walk about the stunning shops and a lovely dinner later, brought us to our last night in the beautiful Cannes, Monday morning was off to the airport for the journey home. Again, John very kindly arranged to collect us from this fabulous located apartment and took us back to the airport, so very kind of him.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in returning to the beautiful, breathtaking Cannes and staying in this wonderful apartment in its fabulous location.

John Weaving is so passionate and enthusiastic about beautiful Cannes and this is clear for those that have the privilege in getting to know him a little and have him as your guide.

Cannes I will be back…!

I truly hope that you have all recovered from the horrendous horrific weather that occurred the following weekend, which made Cannes look like a very different place.

I know you will survive and recover from this, my thoughts are with you all.

With Love to You All in Cannes.
