We are in Cannes – one of the most thought after cities in the world – tourism, congress the city attracts in there thousands each year ???

With over 50 hotels in Cannes – Why then the Olivier??

086Let me tell you why…

You are NOT just a number on a credit card!! – reservation number?? – simply back to basics – a warm welcome with a smile.

The building itself has an amazing past…

History –

Built in 1870 – Villa des Fauvettes – was the original name – built on two floors.

In 1881 the son of the Duchesse de Rochefoucauld sadly passed away – after which she financed for the needed families of the Suquet a food canteen (soup kitchen) – in 1894 the building was bought by the Sisters (charity of Saint-Vincent-Paul) 091and created a primary school with kitchens – and commercial lessons for the girls. The building enlarged and used the villa des Fauvettes as its annex – and between 1943 / 1947 was home to a students studying marketing, commerce, and became the School “Des Fouvettes” – later transformed and renamed as “Villa Saint Joseph”. After 1947 the building was abandoned and soon became a small family pension with 13 bedrooms. The owner Jaques Mulller obtained the permission to extend the villa in 1963 and added a further 10 bedrooms and was re-baptised and called “Hotel Olivier”.

The family run business was then sold to the present owners Schildknecht in 1993 – who 095have thankfully continued with the family philosophy. A small family from Colmare, who sold the family business to move to the warmth of the south.

23 years in the same family – Charles and Frederic two brothers now running the family business with the same generosity and philosophy – bravo and the relay seems to be in place with the recent birth of Frederic’s daughter Flora.

045_resizeDo NOT expect the modern, trendy, clean cut Hotel – which you can find everywhere – this is a 21
bedroom hotel with more of a villa atmosphere, a small oasis in the heart of Cannes – with its own terraces garden, covered veranda, small swimming pool, and family smiles!! – this hotel will make you feel more at home than in a hotel! – The decor may not be to your taste – its more in sync with the provence, still it remains interestingly comfortable with plenty of areas to sit around, read a book, sip a glass of rosé, or simply go for a siesta.

Situated minutes away from the famous “Marche Forville” local market, amazing beaches 300m away, restaurants and 099boutiques only steps away (Suquet) – the perfect location for tourism, relax and for the congress delegates. The perfect location to get away and relax from a busy days work at the Palais des Festivals,  being only a 5 minute walk away.
