Its the 7th October and MIPCOM is in full swing at the Palais des Festivales – the sun is back, the sky is blue – and I am scooting around.
Riding slowly around Palm Beach – I am making the most of the fantastic weather we are having – then suddenly……. SPARKLES of colours in the park – what is happening – what am I seeing???
A herd of Cows in CANNES? What an amazing sight. Of course NOT real ones!
These are very very special – life size fibreglass cows – each one designed by local artists. You will recognise many such as David David Art, Marina and many more. They are full of life, colour and mostly fun fun – what a fantastic parade.
As I am walking around the heard, I can only think, what is this all about? OK, great art, great parade, fabulous back drop (palm trees & the bay of Cannes), great gathering of artists – but WHY??
Then it hits me…
A movement which began in 1998 in Zurich – the aim to showcase talented artists, and involve a great Charity – since the beginning over 80 cities have participated with over 7500 being involved!
Now this is what I call an impressive open air exposition.
There are hundreds of tourists, families, children enjoying the parade – full of fun – photos are snapped, and portraits made. Truly exciting and well worth the stop over to “walk amongst the heard”, and their artists – :
GRÉGORY DI GIORGIO
CAMILLE JEANNE HERCHER
The parade “exposition” will take place as of the 1st October till the 15th November – so come along and join the cause!
At the conclusion of the event, the cows will be sold at auction for the benefit of LES RESTAURANTS DU COER, which offers food aid, emergency shelter and other services to the poor.
Auction to take place on Tuesday 8th December – PARIS – the mini Palais (Grand Palais) – please visit their web site for details, contacts and further info!
Moooo on fans of ilovecannes.com – and if you take any photos please share!
