As we walked down the Croisette, the Carlton InterContinental appears behind the palm trees, the history , architecture, splendour – we are immediately under her charm. Overlooking the Bay of Cannes, the hotel is steeped in history, romance, with some amazing stories waiting to be told –

We are invited this day for the amazing lunch – which takes place every Wednesday “Bouillabaisse Royale” – this is a traditional Provençal fish stew originating from the port city of Marseille – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouillabaisse

Originally a poor mans stew, the dish has now become one of the most refined mouth watering stew to be found – and mainly served in the most refined restaurants – in this case the Carlton! At this point it has to be said – my first reaction was that a dish so refined in such a wondrous refined location – Carlton restaurant facing the bay of Cannes – does it get any better?? and what about the price?? – well to my surprise,  if you are as passionate about a “Bouillabaisse” as we are – then look no further – this has to be Top Marks and with a price label  matching  any top restaurant in the region – do not be overwhelmed by the “Palais” attitude – step inside and enjoy one of the most delicious “Bouillabaisse” around.

The team of I Love Cannes and Kelly’s Délices were invited to a delicious lunch in the iconic symbol of the Croisette:

The INTERCONTINENTAL CARLTON Cannes, a must and the magic as soon as you enter, moldings, gilding , in short of a real palace world!

We were invited to enjoy the Royal Bouillabaisse of Wednesday, a typically Provencal dish, we were in good company with Verena, Director of Sales and Laura, Marketing Executive who greeted us all so warmly. Barely seated, a glass of champagne is offered to us and we toast to this lovely invitation. My mouth was watering, and could not wait to taste this delicious menu.

An amuse bouche to begin to wet our appetites, a fish brandade with its tomato sauce.

Act 1 with soup of rock fish, “served by the butler”, with its croutons, grated cheese and a light garlic crust. I love it so much that I even has second helpings 12717453_10153872830800692_9007296577143227466_n!!!! To accompany this sea lunch side, nothing like a white wine chilled, selection: “A Château Minuty Prestige”.

Act 2; Mediterranean fish, poached in a broth flavoured with saffron served with a lobster section. We were transported to the sun, the chef offered us a gentle stroll in the Mediterranean.

Act 3; a little sweetness to finish, on the trolley a choice of the finest pastries as each other. My choice was the lemon tart of the chef pastry, lemon cream a real treat with a little surprise, you find a note praline in the bottom of the pie.

 

Finally all that to say that we really enjoyed. It was a magical moment out of time.
